Phoenix
Part 67: Secrets at the End of the Campaign
The final day of the campaign had just ended, and everyone was boarding the bus.
The exhausted team was finally ready to rest, but in Phoenix’s heart a secret was quietly hiding: her relationship with Albatross.
Before getting on the bus, they stepped aside together for a few moments.
PHOENIX (slightly nervous):
“Albatross… I have a request.
I don’t want people at work gossiping about us.
Could we keep this… a secret for a while?”
ALBATROSS (calmly):
“Alright, Phoenix.
We can keep it a secret for a while.
If that makes things easier for you, then that’s how we’ll do it.”
PHOENIX (with an uncertain smile):
“I hope no one notices…
I don’t want it to come out yet.”
Albatross stepped closer, his voice low and steady, reassuring.
ALBATROSS:
“Don’t worry, Phoenix.
Right now, only we matter.
We’ll take this step by step.”
Phoenix smiled faintly, though she remained cautious.
PHOENIX:
“I just want everything to be okay…
I don’t want rumors to ruin this.”
ALBATROSS:
“I know. And I’ll look out for you.
We’ll figure it out together.”
They boarded the bus.
The other colleagues were talking and laughing, while Phoenix and Albatross sat quietly beside each other—somewhere between the weight and the beauty of their secret.
PHOENIX (whispering):
“I hope the others will understand later…
and that there won’t be any trouble.”
ALBATROSS (with a gentle smile):
“Trust me, Phoenix.
Everything will be fine.”
The bus rumbled into motion.
Trees rushed past the window, and as the distance grew, one thing became increasingly clear:
this secret would not remain a secret for very long.
