Phoenix

Part 24: In Albatross’s Shadow

Phoenix and Emma arrive home after a long, exhausting day at the studio. They stop at the door, and Emma looks at Phoenix with concern.

Emma:
“Phoenix… please, tell me now what happened with Albatross. I can see that something happened…”

Phoenix sighs slowly, sits down on a chair, a restrained smile on her face, but her gaze drifts into the distance.

Phoenix (softly, slowly):
“Alright… I’ll tell you, but sit down, it’s going to be quite long…”

Phoenix begins to tell Emma about the events of the past few days: the moments spent in the studio, the shared moments with Albatross, the subtle emotional gestures, the restrained desire, the distance, and every small detail that happened between the two of them.

Phoenix:
“You see, Emma… that’s why I have to avoid Albatross. But… if you don’t mind now, I’m tired. Let’s go, let’s lie down… it’s been a long day.”

Emma (worried, nodding):
“Alright… just take care of yourself, Phoenix.”

Emma quietly leaves the room, and Phoenix remains alone, focusing on the moments of solitude.

Phoenix takes out her small blue notebook, which she always keeps with her. She sits by the window, the moonlight faintly illuminating her face. Slowly, with small movements, she begins to write, noting down the desire, the confusion, the jealousy, the happy moments she spent beside Albatross.

Phoenix (inner thought, murmuring):
“Why is everything so complicated? Why do I feel like I have to keep everything a secret…”

Down in the car, Albatross watches the house, his gaze fixed on Phoenix. The girl does not notice that someone is there.

Albatross (inner thought, softly):
“Why are you running away again, Phoenix? Something happened… but what?”

Albatross sits silently in the car, tension and worry in his heart, memories flooding back: the cooking together, watching a movie, the quiet moments… everything appears vividly before him.

Finally, with a deep sigh, he starts the car and slowly drives home, knowing that Phoenix now needs solitude and time to process her feelings.
